The Convention is unique in that it explicitly combines social-economic rights with civil-political rights in one instrument. All countries in the world except Somalia and the United States of America have ratified it. Article 2 of the Convention indicates that the rights it recognizes should be guaranteed to both boys and girls without discrimination of any kind. This part of the site identifies materials that relate specifically to the girl-child.
