Girl Education—The best investment in development you can make

Over 29,000 children die everyday of preventable causes.

This knowledge gives To Love Children the courage to ask for donations unsolicited.

Who are we? To Love Children Educational Foundation International Inc. “Expanding Children’s Horizons Globally through Local Education” is an international, non-governmental, non profit 501(c)3 organization located in San Francisco, California. We are dedicated to sustainable educational development for the girl child in the developing world, so she will break the cycle of poverty.

Why girl education? In 2000, a series of studies by UNICEF and the UN began to examine the effects of educating young girls on the overall health and sustainable growth of developing countries. Their findings repeatedly showed that “investments in girls’ education – particularly those directed to the quality of education – benefit all children, including boys.” This targeted, equally accessible, and gender-conscious approach to education categorically produces a stronger and more sustainable result than any gender-neutral approach.

What are the benefits? Educated women are in a crucial position for enacting and perpetuating positive change for their children and their community. Statistics compiled by UNICEF reveal that an educated girl marries later and has fewer children. Her children are more likely to survive, are better nourished and have better educations. She is more productive at home and better paid in the workplace. She is better able to protect herself against HIV/AIDS, and will assume a more active role in social, economic and political decisions throughout her life. She will break the cycle of dependency on outside assistance and, in the end, the funding of her education will be the funding of an enduring solution.

What is our mission? Today, 121 million children are without education. Even to the most optimistic individual this is a staggering statistic. More telling still, two thirds of these children are girls, and 660 million of their mothers and the women in their communities are illiterate. These figures grow with each short-changed generation. To Love Children, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, is committed to targeting this destructive cycle with a method of investment that has proven itself again and again – an investment that focuses on the education of young girls, to create a future that focuses on the betterment of all children, worldwide. We aim to inspire a collaborative drive between all education-focused organizations; a drive that will culminate in a truly independent and lasting solution for developing nations.

How are we making a difference? Says Rebecca A. Kadaga, MP Deputy Speaker, Parliament of the Republic of Uganda: “The Universal African Resource Centre and Library being established here in Kampala will be a major watershed in educational reform since children will be entitled to receive free library services. This will not only promote the vision of TLC, but also the government plan for all children to receive basic education through Universal Primary Education (UPE).”

Dr. David Kazungu, Chairman of National Agricultural Action Development (NAAD) in Uganda, has expressed his willingness to participate in our upcoming Walk for Education World WideTM. Through these and other initiatives, we are garnering NGO support with partners in six countries and over 50 schools worldwide, reaching 10,000 children. Our life-changing work includes:

Developing HIV/AIDS and Peace education workshops and modules for use in Africa and the rest of the world.

Building educational resource centers and libraries in Uganda, Nigeria, and India.

With our international partners, sponsoring and organizing our first annual event centered in Kampala, Uganda called Walk for Education World Wide TM (WEW) 2004

Publishing a new journal called The Global Child Journal to provide the latest learning about international education development.

Will you support us? It is with a hopeful heart that we have sent you this letter in order to create an awareness of our work. According to UNICEF, 121 million children do not attend school, and two thirds of those are girls. To Love Children offers solutions to this dreadful statistic. We need your assistance today to fund our programs. Your support, financial donations and influence will help To Love Children educate the girl child and give her a chance to face a brighter future. To Love Children has partnered with Network for Good to accept our online donations for their security, privacy and service to ensure your donations are safe we have provide the following information.

About Network for Good

Network for Good is the Internet's leading charitable resource — an e-philanthropy site where individuals can donate, volunteer and get involved with the issues they care about. The organization's goal is to connect people to charities via the Internet — using the virtual world to deliver real resources to nonprofits and communities.

Founded in 2001 by the Time Warner Foundation and AOL, Inc.; the Cisco Foundation and Cisco Systems, Inc.; and Yahoo! Inc., Network for Good is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Vienna, VA.

In addition to connecting the public with opportunities to give, Network for Good works to advance nonprofit adoption of the Internet as a tool for fundraising, volunteer recruitment and community engagement. It represents a groundbreaking partnership with leading technology and media companies and more than 20 nonprofit foundations and associations who share the desire to foster the informed use of the Internet for civic participation and philanthropy.

Network for Good Privacy and Security

Network for Good and all of our partners value and respect all individuals and organizations seeking to donate time, money, or resources to groups in need. We understand that you may be concerned about privacy issues that surround the use of the Internet.

We believe that you should have control over who receives your personal information, whether it concerns where you live, what your interests are, or how you choose to conduct transactions. We're focused on only one thing: helping you help others in a safe and secure environment.

Therefore, we do not disclose, share, sell, or trade information about your individual visits to Network for Good or the information that you may give us such as your name, address, e-mail address or telephone number, to any outside companies except for the use of completing a donation transaction that you initiate or a request to volunteer with a nonprofit organization. When you make donations or select a volunteer opportunity, we may specifically ask for information about you -- such as name, home or Internet address, and billing information -- in order to provide that service or information to you. This information will be used solely for the purposes of completing your donation or locating the volunteer opportunity you are seeking.

Your personal information will be shared with the organization to whom you are donating unless you choose not to make it available to them. When you make an online donation, you will have the opportunity to keep your personal information private by electing to make your donation anonymously. They may also provide it to other organizations for their use. If you do not want to be contacted again by that charity or want to make sure that the organization you have given money to does not share your name, you will need to let them know directly. For more information on making an online donation, visit our Help area.

The information which Network for Good automatically gathers, such as the numbers and frequency of visitors to our site and its areas, is used only in the aggregate -- very much like television ratings that tell the networks how many people tuned in to a program. This collective data helps us determine how much our visitors use parts of the site, so that we can improve our site to assure that it is as appealing as we can make it for as many of you as possible. We also may provide aggregated statistical "ratings" information, never information about you personally, to our Network for Good partners about how our visitors, collectively, use Network for Good. We do this so they too can understand how often people use their areas and our site in order for them to provide you with the best possible experience.

Network for Good Security

Network for Good takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the Web site, your information is protected both online and offline.

When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry. Network for Good uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to keep your personal information as secure as possible.
