Kyrgyzstan
There are several elements to the situation of women in Kyrgyzstan that reflect former Soviet policy and traditional values. At independence, the level of education of females was high and sometimes superior to that of males, families were usually large with 4-5 children, in 1991 83% of all women participated in the labor force predominantly in education, health, cultural and art sectors. The state provided generous benefits to women including long maternity leave, time of to care for sick children, child allowances, etc. Today there are big differences
